Intimate Object
Intimate Object
Intimate Object is a site and time specific performative work that explore method, material and form. It takes place on the 7th floor of the Pfizer Building in Brooklyn, between the fourth and fifth pillars on the east side.
In this piece, I use a specific method to produce a form that acts as a monumental object of the space. The process involves pouring a predetermined amount of cement into a container(the wall), then flipping it along a mapped pattern in the space until the cement sets. This process is repeated layer by layer, following a scheduled time tabel.
The movement of objects offers an observable fact to the viewer by revealing the reality of what is happening in the present moment.
The container of the cement appear as a wall in the space. The act of flipping the wall changes the structure of the space.
The shape of the final cement form does not hold meaning, but rather serves as a record of the process of formation, a physical trace of process and time.
The act of witnessing the making process, the viewer creates an intimate connection with the object (cement form).
